art, week four...

once again...my little artist says she is not done....but for sake of updating the blog, i'm posting....they spend a good bit of time drawing and outling and then they color in their work....today's lesson was all about concentric circles, Op Art and Frank Stella ~ unique designs, minimalist drawings and bold colors (here is where my limited art knowledge is exhausted)....mr. bob says he is quite proud of her and of course, we are too....

progress...

guess what this big boy did today???
he pottied ~ TWICE!! here's a little TMI, but for those mothers out there, i know you'll understand.....first, he tee-teed on the potty then a little while later he pooped and teed!!!

ok, i know this is probably just a random thing and won't happen again for another 6 months....but wow, what progress and what a great start! this is what is so interesting ~ he told me, "i potty." before each time and walked to the toilet. so, i put him on....and the rest is history....the second time he actually even said, "i potty, i go poo-poo."

....can you guys tell i am a little amazed and proud of my big man?!??! i guess he sees everyone else in the house using the potty and he wanted in on the action...who knows, but at least at 19 months old he is taking an interest.....it will be a long time before i am rid of diapers but at least we are progressing in the right direction :)

seriously....who would have ever thought, say 10 years ago, that i would be blogging about my child pooping?!?!?? hilarious! motherhood....changes you in so many wonderful ways :)

enjoying life....

here's the thing about the south...
only in the south can you be outside playing in 73 degree weather on a late january afternoon when the week before you were bundled up like an eskimo because the high was only 33 degrees....

crazy as this weather is.....we took total advantage of it....after work i picked up the kids and headed straight for the park and we didn't leave until it was dark!! it was great.....beautiful weather, wonderful playtime...

it was also a great day for some pictures....the lighting was great....i hope the blog does these justice.....i am starting to really get a handle on my new camera....

when we got to the park we ran into our neighbor cameron and his dad mike.....audrey and cameron became fast friends from the day we moved in....they really enjoy playing together....grant loves having another big kid around too....

but probably the MOST amazing part of our ENTIRE trip to the park was this below....

yup ~ Audrey pet, loved on, walked and held a dog!!!!!

yeah!!! we were so excited and so very proud of her :) she did this all on her own too....no prodding from us....it was amazing....we are glad she has made this step....for those of you who don't know or haven't heard the shrills & screams when she sees dogs/cats....audrey is terribly scared of animals/pets....we don't really know why....there has never been a traumatic experience or anything and the zoo is one of her favorite places to visit....Hand-In-Paw therapy has been coming to her school once/twice a month with the therapy dogs and i really think this has helped her tremendously...

congrats again baby girl!!!

good job, good job :)

art & haircut

art lessons again today....mittens.....they traced their hands then chose their own pattern or design....audrey says she is not done, work in progress....i guess she wants to color more blue....a true artist is never satisfied :)

could you guys hear my heart breaking this afternoon where ever you were??!?!?

well, it did!

my sweet, precious, destruct-o, angel baby boy got his FIRST haircut!! he really needed it...the curls in the back were adorable but with this dry, cold weather the curls were no more....it looked more like a mullet! he did so great....didn't hardly move a muscle....give this boy a lolli and you could do anything to him :)

BEFORE
AFTER

brett wanted it shorter.....i just couldn't do the true big boy haircut yet....i'm sure next time we will cut off more, but this was all i could handle.....one thing did stick out to me this afternoon...he kinda looks like a little amish boy! heck, that's ok, they're good people with some awesome cheese and furniture :)

isabella rose...

my niece isabella rose has been one big adventure after another since the moment she was born....she is by far the most energetic, spunkiest, precious, determined, spirited and passionate six-year-old i have ever known! .....yes, i know what you are thinking....six??? she is also one of the smallest 6 year olds i have ever known....but here's the thing ~ she doesn't know she's little :) she was by far the best defensive player during her basketball game saturday morning.....tell her to guard and man will she guard!.....oh and her passions ~ watch out!...let her get angry, and back up....her favorite response, "you're the green face monster witch!"....let her mom get out of her sight for too long and you will see the undeniable love of a daughter.....let her brother aggravate her one to many times and you will see him beat up with all her 6 year-old might.....let her find out her cousins are coming to town and her excitement and constant, "are they here yet" will send you over the edge....and if she ever feels the need to be on her toes, she will quickly remind you, "i'm watching you!"....we love bella boo and could never imagine our lives without her, but whew...you will be wore out after your visit......
I LOVE YOU ISABELLA ROSE!!

boys & grey's....

Mothers Of Little Boys Work From Son Up Till Son Down
....Amen! I saw this quote and absolutely loved it :)

Don't everyone's kids play in the shower ?!?!?

Doesn't everyone keep rain boots and croc flops in the shower?!?!?

....also, riddle me this.....how is it that the guide on my t.v says Ugly Betty is on and yet, i am stuck watching Scrubs?!??! If they mess with my Grey's someone really may get hurt!! there are a few things i live for and thursday nights with Grey's Anatomy are high on that list....it is my one night of mindless, relaxing, don't-mess-with-me, put-yourself-to-bed-i'm-watching-my-shows joy.....i used to enjoy these nights with this great lady and this great lady....of course, now we communicate via text throughout the show....

....sorry for the snappiness (umm, yeah that's probably not a word) but i am a bit tired tonight...this workin' for a living, everyday stinks :) well, that and the fact that several of the days have started at 4:30am.....ok, my pity party is over now....i must go...Grey's has started....

explanation please....

art lessons round two ~ markers

....being a mother, i feel the need to explain (don't we always do this?!?!). they were to first draw a landscape type picture with reflections and such. then they were to choose if they wanted to do a warm or cool color scheme....mr. bob, the teacher, did a really neat job of going through the colors and why they are "warm" or "cool" and how they make us feel.....audrey obviously chose the cool colors ~ could it be because it was 45 degrees outside and a bit chilly??? i can't wait to see what art lessons brings again next week...

and, yes yankee relatives, i realize to you guys this would be like a nice spring day :) but to us "wimps" in the south....we are cold!

she is just too dang cute!.....she put this outfit on yesterday and ask if we could go to the zoo seeing as she was dressed like a giraffe....when it warms up dear, i promise....we were given an amazing gift when we moved in to our house by a really cool real-estate agent ~ a year membership to the zoo!! man have we enjoyed it.....

Until I was thirteen,
I thought my name was SHUT UP.
- Joe Namath

i am pretty sure that grant thinks his name is NO GRANT Richards....

no grant, get off the table!

no grant, don't pull sissy's hair!

no grant, get out of the toilet!

no grant, put down the pretties!

no grant, no grant, no grant!

but, let me tell you about those tools...

if santa had only brought those tools, it still would have been an amazing christmas... grant "toolman" richards LOVES his tools....he goes around the house fixin' stuff for hours....my tables are getting a wonderful "distressed" look from all the banging, etc... this is the one thing that grant is just grant ~ there are no no grant's here....

storage...

a few weeks ago brett's dad helped him pour this ~

so that he could then build this ~

in which he could store all of this ~

yes, one dedicated shed just for all the toys....have we mentioned how much we love our new house?? but have we also mentioned that we do not have much, ummm...should i say any, storage at all??!!? so when we were gifted those two riding things over there to the left, it became quite evident we would need a safe place for them...well, with the gift of the riding things came the gift of a new shed and how quickly we filled it up!!! we now have a tool shed and a toy shed decorating our backyard.....
