prayers, prayers, prayers.....

family, friends, readers of my blog......i need to lift up a prayer request.....

there is a precious 2 & 1/2 year little boy named max in georgia that needs as many prayers as we can send his way....he is basically an extended family member of ours.....

max was just diagnosed with Stage 4, High Risk, Neuroblastoma. this is a childhood cancer that affects children under 5 years old. he has tumors in his abdomen and the cancer has spread to his bone marrow. he will have to have 18 weeks of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and stem cell transplant.

please say a prayer or two or hundred for him.....

thank you......

big boy....

i guess it's pretty official.....he's a big boy now....well, the bed is a big boy bed but he is, and forever will be, my baby boy....last weekend fred & brenda came over for a visit and brought us grant's *new* big boy bed.....his third-richards'-generation bed.....pops slept in this bed as a child, brett slept in this bed & now it's grant's turn....how cool is that??? mimi & pops were also quite gracious to get us a new mattress set for the bed as well.....you see we have mattress issues in our household....and let's just say that is a post for another day....
he LOVES his new bed....you would too if you could feel that fitted sheet.....it is a chamois fitted sheet from pottery barn kids.....it.is.heaven.....oh my goodness!.... wonderful....the first night i had it on the bed he just rolled all over it ~umm, naked, right after his bath ~ and kept saying, "my bankie, my bankie!!"....it does feel just like one side of his favorite blankie....

i was able to match the stuff from his crib bedding & decor so we could keep the blue/green & bug them going....love me some pottery barn kids!!

oh.....and here is an AWESOME tip that i got from the lady at pottery barn.....i was looking at bedskirts and she asked if my bed had slats under it (i had told her the age of the bed)....i told her that yes, actually it did.....she then went on to tell me that if i did a bed skirt i would have to cover that beautiful wood rail on the side....ugh, don't wanna do that.....then, very non-chalantly, she said just use a fitted sheet on the box spring......it covers it & yet you still see the rail....GENIOUS....and how simple is that?!?!? why have i never thought of that before? i need to do the same thing to my bed in our room.....again, gotta love some pottery barn....

playin' & dancin'....

my mom, sister lisa & her daughter isabella came up this weekend for some fun.....the grown-up ladies were able to go out for a girl's dinner friday night at satterfield's.... yummy....very good, thanks again mom! we also managed to sneak out this morning for a walk around pepper place market....love it & loved getting to spend time with my ladies....then it was time for brett to get all manly & cut the grass.....the little ladies decided to put on a show....isabella was dressed as fancy nancy & audrey, after her second *costume change* was a sweet ballerina....
...they showed off their "pets" & then started dancing......grant had to get in on the action also.... he is never to be out-done of course :) i got into a little cha-cha slide myself.....this really isn't too unusual for us, we've been known to have *dance parties* at a moments notice....

faces....

....these two little monkeys are a pair to beat a full house ~ to say the least!!! we all love them both more than anything in the world & could NEVER imagine our lives without them but whew, they wear us out.....remember how i said grant is passionate about everything, well isabella is too.....they are going to have *lots* of fun together through the years....

unbelievable....

....yesterday i was sitting, thinking ~ stupidly ~ what i should blog about next......bad idea...a few hours later my inspiration arised....

what i thought was going to be a *normal* evening at the richards' household turned into much, much more....brett at football practice, audrey at the table coloring, i was attempting to cook a new yummy meal & all was quiet....here is where the problem lied..... it . was . quiet .
"audrey, is grant in the living room?"
"no. but he is really quiet."
*gulp*
"i'll go check on him"
*ugh*
....as any good mother would do........i grabbed my camera.........i was mad, i was tickled, i was laughing through the steam coming out of my ears....poor audrey was a bit more mortified than me....my ocd child immediately grabbed some wipes & started cleaning.....me?? i shut the door & waited till his father got home...
what??? what'd i do???
well.....let me tell ya what he did.....he creamed, powdered & started diapering his poor, harmless, sweet monkey.....ol' george didn't stand a chance....i've gotta give the boy some props, he knew what to do with all the stuff & basically where to put it......maybe this is a sign he will be a great father one day.....needless to say, he managed to go through a whole bottle of baby powder, a good size jar of resinol ~ oh yes, the $13 diaper cream!!!, several baby wipes & a diaper.....clothes & shoes were covered.....i stripped him down and sent him to the living room to innocently watch some noggin while i attempted to finish cooking....
"mom!!! grant spilled his cup!"
*you've . got . to . be . kidding . me*
"like, where audrey??"
"um, all over him.....and his chair."
*ugh*
*UGH*
*U . G . H.*
yup.....that would be watered down PURPLE grape juice..... FOR . THE . LOVE!!!!!
i know what you all are thinking, why in the world would you not use white grape juice???? because that would be too easy & OBVIOUSLY we don't do anything easy in our household.....and realistically, my kids like the purple better....nice, real nice...
oh, and that dinner i was cooking......italian shrimp pasta with spinach.....it really was good, despite everything else....
and to finish the evening.....i know, there couldn't possibly be more.....ice cream.....i mean, why not??? what's the point of being mad now?!!?
notice, i still haven't gotten him dressed......seriously, why would i do that?!?!
who could stay mad at a face like that????
and he knows it too :)

grant is a WILD MAN and i love it!!
he is a very passionate child....in each & every aspect of his two year old being... he loves me like nothing else, is rough & tumble with brett, loves/aggravates his sissy and makes friends EVERYWHERE he goes.....we are going to have many, many more adventures with this guy.....
hold on tight for the ride!
