enjoying the weather...

we have absolutely been enjoying this BEAUTIFUL weather!! below are a few pics from yesterday....as i have said before.....my backyard is the greatest playpen ever!! each afternoon i have been pushing them out the door to play and not letting them back in till dark.....i do throw them a snack and something to drink :) ....they both love being outside and i am sure this weather will not last, so we are enjoying it while we can! they got these aprons from their daycare last year.....how cute are my little home depot workers?!?!?

conversations...

have you had a conversation with a 4 1/2 year old lately?? well i do on a daily basis :) let me tell you it can get quite amusing....


audrey ~ "mommy, i think i want to be a teacher when i get bigger."

me ~ "ok, but i thought you wanted to be an artist and a nurse?"

a ~ "oh, i will be an artist too. but i won't know how to be a nurse."

m ~ "well that's what you learn in college."

a ~ "yeah, but i already know how to be a teacher. i teach people things all the time."

....yup, she sure does!!


she made the comment to brett a few weeks ago when pulling up to her preschool, "daddy, i am ready to go to kindergarten. i already know everything here!" ....oh, we are going to have so much fun with her next school year :)


but probably one of my favorite recent conversations went some like this....

me ~ "audrey i need you to help me do something when we get home."

audrey ~ "ok! i'll be just like God....he always helps people!"

and let me tell you her ranking on how much she loves you......

there are two different ways she shows her love for you:

1. "I love you to the moon and back!" ~ this is her love for most of her family (including mom, dad & grant) and friends.

2. "I love him to HEAVEN and back!" ~ this love is reserved for one person so far, and this one person only....guess who?? - Payton Lane Mixson! Sorry grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins....only the Payton man gets that one! Not even mom and dad.....we've dealt with it, we are ok :)

boy fun...

grant had a wonderful time this weekend as well.....he gets relaxed, calm and quiet when outside...he absolutely loves it!! he just plays, talks to himself, explores the backyard and has a blast....but there are differences in girl fun and boy fun....boys seek out the adventure and the "maybe i shouldn't do this" things of the backyard and in the end they always end up a complete mess :) of course, the thing about all that mess and dirt ~ it all washes away in the tub!!

girl fun...

audrey and olivia had a great time together this weekend......we love that all the cousins can get together so often!!...and we love that grammy got to come visit too!!...the girls played hard saturday after audrey's practice, went to church sunday morning and then played even more sunday afternoon....needless to say ~ they were exhausted!! audrey took a nap sunday afternoon - which she never does anymore....we have really been enjoying this beautiful weather....i'm sure we will get another cold snap, but until then ~ outside till dark!!!

softball, the beginning...

today audrey had her first softball practice/clinic.....she was so cute!! the Vestavia Hills High School softball team ran the clinic, they did a great job with the little girls....and speaking of little ~ miss priss was the smallest one out there, but she was also one of the youngest....she has a good little team, looks like it is going to be a fun season....and though her team is going to be the Detroit Tigers we had to support our BoSox today!

but before audrey's practice she had to get some moral support and lovin' from her brother...how sweet are they?!?!?!

night, night...

we have a busy, busy weekend.....so for now it is good night....well, that is, if i could ever get audrey to stop watching this ....she is such my retro child ~ and i love it!!

softball starts tomorrow with clinics & team meetings.....bye, bye t-ball ~ we've moved on to big girl ball......audrey is in the Pigtail League and her team is the Detroit Tigers...we are going to have so much fun!!

olivia and grams are coming for a visit and the weather is supposed to be beautiful!! lots of outside play....grant will be quite happy!

sunday is church.....and lots of it :) we have our regular morning and then later that afternoon we are going to a discovery session and are hoping to officially join our new church home....we are so excited, we have really enjoyed our new church....as do audrey and grant ~ which means so much to us!

today's art was PIZZA! yum-o :)

she did great!.....you can even see her little mushrooms and pieces of green pepper...too cute....oh, the thing on the side is a breadstick with sauce :)

so, what was for dinner tonight?? well pizza of course.....we must keep the theme going!

last night at bible study the kids sang for all the mommies.....so sweet!! they were absolutely precious.....audrey and i have been going to community bible study together since september and have throughly enjoyed it! while the ladies have their time together each week, the kids have their own bible study as well....the last pic is our friend sweet read....too cute!!

the cabin....

we enjoyed an awesome weekend at our family cabin in Hiawassee, GA.....it was entirely too short though.....why does time FLY by when you are relaxing without children (well, other than the one in sara's tummy!) and with friends you haven't seen in a while??? we watched movies, played games, relaxed and ate some great food.....just doesn't get much better than that!
