Second Egg Hunt...

after a yummy lunch of ham & the fixings and delicious strawberry cake from here....we headed out for a great easter egg hunt....we have a huge front and side yard so it was perfect for huntin'...

for the sake of exploiting my children (hahaha!) here are more pics of my babes....mostly because i want to show you this new big boy that has inhabited my home....this is not grant nicholas, it just couldn't be.....no, MY baby boy has beautiful, thick, fairly long blonde -ok, white- hair....this child has SHORT, white hair and looks like he is three!!! for the love, where did my baby boy go?? i know he is still in there, surely he is....but **pout, pout** it just doesn't look like him! i will get over this soon and stop posting about the gosh-forsaken haircut that stole my baby faced boy away....but it may take a while....

softball picture day...

yesterday was softball picture day....as i do with all picture days, i have to take my own set of pics at the house....her little team is so cute!! she, like her cousin isabella, is the smallest on her team but given the benefit ~ audrey is one of the youngest :)

after pics they had their ball game....she had a blast....the parents have felt so bad because the girls have had most of their practices rained out....and we need it! for a lot of the girls this is their first or second year playing and those fielding, reaction skills are still being taught and learned....it will all come together in time....they have years and years of softball ahead of them....well, knowing audrey she could decide next year she wants to do something else....and that would be fine too!

big boy haircut....

well we did it yesterday.....we got grant a big boy haircut!!.....i'm not dealing too well....he looks SO GROWN & SO BIG and i can't stand it!!!! no, this was not his very first haircut, that is here....but this haircut is terribly short! brett loves it, i hate it....the story of our lives....he wants grant to be such a big boy and all grown-up already ~ he can't wait for them to be playing football, basketball, any ball together in the backyard.....i could care less about him being grown! no, i don't want him to stay a baby forever but for the love ~ just a little longer! he has his whole life to be a big boy.....only a few months to be my sweet baby boy....tear rolling down my cheek now :) one thing for sure....it will be a LONG time before we get another haircut, this needs to grow out!!!!!

of course audrey couldn't stand it....she just had to get in the barber chair for a minute! she wanted to know why she couldn't get her hair cut there too :)

his school closed early thursday due to the threat of severe weather....hmmm, never did i get that lucky when i was young...we just "hunkered" down in the hallway, fetal position on our knees, for hours on end....and the funny thing about yesterday, the weather never got bad! strong rain around 6:30 but that was it! oh well, he was able to go to his daddy's school (which did not release early - smart people) and get his "learning on" with the big kids....he also got a few snuggles from all of his daddy's teacher friends....needless to say, he was worn out when he got home! we don't usually nap that late in the day ~ but he needed it!



make-up......queen bee audrey....while destruct-o man took a nap, audrey took to doing her face! she loves the mirror in our closet....she has been found in there a time or two "doing her hair"!

i will have to admit....she is a bit prissy and even a BIGGER bit dramatic....

but we love it, most days :)

today was Spring Picture Day at her school.....luckily i had the day off, whew! daddy didn't have to do hair or give all the pre-picture instructions ~ smile pretty, pull your dress back, etc...

i am still in awe of this beautiful child....i can't believe how "grown" she is in just 4 years & 10 months....precious gift to her father, myself and our entire family...the fact that she will be starting kindergarten in august in absolutely daunting...she is an amazing, caring, godly, wonderful, dramatic, artsy, fun-loving child....that continues to keep us on our toes each and everyday....she has the memory of an elephant and has no problem stating the obvious.....she tells us often that ,"god gave her the funniest brother!" or that she loves us, "all the way around her back!"....her sheer love of life is one to be modeled.....and as i am with grant, her daddy's favorite time with her is cuddling up in his recliner at night....moments to be treasured always...

april 1st.....where o' where has the time gone?!?! weren't we just celebrating christmas?!?! wow...and before my eyes my sweet, precious baby boy is turning into such a big boy!! and he already needs another haircut, boy's hair is quite high maintenance :)

here are a few of his favorite things ~

his paci....have children ever gone to kindergarten with them?? we may be the first :) he loves his pas!! the good ladies at school only let him have it at nap, so when he comes home he is craving it and won't stop till he finds one...and his parents aren't as strong willed as his daycare teachers....

books and firetrucks.....he has finally started to enjoy "reading" or being read to...his favorite book of course is the firetruck book....every big truck or any red vehicle is a firetruck to grant....FIRETRUCK, FIRETRUCK! is the usual commentary from the grant man on our daily rides around town....brett and i have a call in to the local fire station to see if we can bring him for a visit....he would be so excited!

head butts......oh, this is one fav i wish he would quit!! he and his daddy are quite fond of head-butting each other....all fun and games until he head butts me or one of the poor victims at school....we have already established that grant is hard headed, he just laughs and laughs when banging heads with his daddy....though his daddy can't all ways take it! they also wrestle in the floor like dang WWE wrestlers....the joys of boys ~ in all ages :)

but even as tough as he thinks he is....he is so sweet and cuddly on the inside....nighttime with grant is my absolute favorite...he brings me his blankie, his sippy cup, his favorite friend of the moment ~ usually Knight, his stuffed puppy or his new build-a-bear, Lineman & paci and we snuggle together till he falls asleep...so, so precious!! i treasure each and everyone of these moments!!
