go blazers go....

saturday we dressed out in our blazer best and headed to legion field to watch & cheer for our uab blazers....this was grant's first blazer game too!
we stopped by the best place in town to get some good ol' chicken wings.....yummy! brett & i found this place when we were in college....their wings are so good & big.....the best places are holes in the wall ~ this one is no exception....
after a little tailgaiting & playing in blazer village we headed in for some football!!

somehow we ended up sitting behind the offensive line.....imagine that! :) the blazers ended up playing a good game but just not good enough......they fell to SMU by two-points......we'll get 'em next time!

audrey & blaze....grant wanted NOTHING to do with the big green guy....maybe next year....hey, this is audrey's first year to get her pic made with him! i also think it is fair to say that brett finally got a good appreciation for what i go through every thursday night at his football games.....hehehehe, paypack :) true, his games are much shorter but grant seems just as wild!!

"labor" day...

so today for labor day i had the honor, privilege & great pleasure to celebrate the labor that my dear friend sara recently endured to bring this beautiful baby boy into the world....
i had asked sara if i could snap a few pics of new baby grey while in town......well, a few turned into two hundred :) i still have lots of editing & such to do with the pics but was quite excited to be able to share these with sara tonight as a sneak peek....

i am far from professional & still have a lot to learn about photography but i do absolutely love taking pictures.....especially of beautiful, precious subjects like sara, tommy & grey.....sara has become, through the years, one of those great friends that no matter where we live, we will always stay close ~ and i am so grateful for that....thanks again guys.....

we were off to GA this weekend with lots on our agenda....as usual....saturday we caught up with friends for some food & football....college football is back, oh yeah baby!! and a blazer win completed the evening for us :)

sunday we headed up to mamaw jessie's for her yummy sunday lunch and to visit the goats, per the kids.....there are two new babies ~ audrey named them isabel & dusty....that afternoon & night we enjoyed fred's newly renovated man-cave in the basement and celebrate blake's birthday.... steaks, ribs, football, playing & cake = good times! mamaw, papaw & marty were even able to stop by....we were so glad to see both sets of great-grands this visit.....we missed megan, she was doing a little pre-wedding celebrating in destin for a great friend....monday was complete with my visit with grey & a few swirls around the mall carousel....enjoy a few pics from our celebrating....

redeeming....

well, the lancers redeemed themselves tonight and beat the pzitiz

pirates......whooohooo!!

this is a huge deal because these schools are big rivals......

way to go 7th grade lpms football and way to go brett!!

lancer football begins again....

ahhhh.....the smell of the freshly painted field.....whistles blowing.....cheerleaders cheering....helmets crushing....stadium lights.....my husband yelling.....yup, it's football time again!!

and we couldn't have been more excited! i decked the kids out in red, white & blue and then we headed out to the vestavia hills high school stadium to cheer on our liberty park lancers....they ran, they tackled, they sweat, they bruised, they jumped, they caught, they played.their.hearts.out.......and they also got a good ol' fashion butt whoopin'!

the kids watched & played and cheered their daddy on......maybe it was the first game jitters, maybe it was the inexperience of a young team, maybe the other team was that good.....maybe they just lost.....and that's ok.....it happens, everyone gets over it and moves on....no time to sulk, they have another game thursday night.....no rest for the weary....i am about as bad as brett :)

we look forward to cheering on the lancers again thursday......we will continue to cheer them on until grant just wears me out & kicks my rear-end all over that stadium :) 2 year olds & football games aren't always a great combo, but at least the middle school games are shorter and the season only lasts through mid october.........of course, then begins girl's basketball....
