ALS walk....

this morning was the Walk to Defeat ALS at the high school...brett joined his football team with the youth football teams to help fight this terrible disease...

brett gathered all his boys together to reflect and say a prayer for everyone fighting ALS and their families....

i LOVE this sign that the youth boys made....the connection here is that brett's player whose dad was recently diagnosed with ALS, is also a youth football coach....we all joined forces today!

Game Day Food

so a few weeks ago it was a big game day in our house......UAB vs UT...we decided to pull out all the stops and enjoy a full day of football & food!....i wrote the list above, we made most of the stuff and just grazed all day...yum-o!...oh, and yes that is a chalkboard vinyl "sticky" on the side of my cupboard...gotta love some TJ Maxx!

miss priss had one request for game day....that we use all our football plates!....she gets into all this about as much as me...love it :)

here are a couple recipes from our fun day!

Parmesan Bacon Rods

though probably pretty easy to figure out from the pics above, here ya go.....take one bag of pretzel sticks (long ones).....wrap each stick with one piece of bacon....cook @ 375 for at least 10 mins per side or until done....place on tray and sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan cheese....these are great, and addictive!!

Chili Cheese Dip

one block of softened cream cheese spread onto bottom....

cover with one can of chili...

top with shredded cheddar...

bake @ 375 until melted & bubbly!

....serve with fritos...

school picture day....

yesterday was school picture day for miss priss....

fall pics of my fantastic, fun, frilly, full-of-life first grader! 

of course i had the day off from work....i mean honestly, daddy rocks but getting my girl ready for pics?!?!....haha, it truly just worked out that way BUT i wasn't complaining :) seeing as i was off i hopped on over to the school to take some pics for the yearbook with our other fabulous editor!

here's her class, all 39 of them..... 

and we had to take a pic with one of our besties!! 

and seeing as i was there, right before lunch by chance.....i just had to stay and eat with miss priss! gotta love nacho day....i opted for a salad though :) 

we had a cute little group of girls outside for lunch! and they were quite silly....our attempts at a group shot were quite an adventure... 



another birthday girl....

this weekend we headed down to grammy's house to celebrate olivia's birthday!!

friday started off with a bang, or should i say belch....big man was sick with stomach virus!...yuck...and even worse, he was in our bed when he started....yuck, YUCK!...but i will say cleaning our sheets was a lot easier than if he had christened all his stuffed animals in his bed :)

by that evening he was feeling a little better and by saturday he was totally well & rip roaring around like a wild man! and thank goodness, we had a busy day of celebrating my niece ...

my kids warmed up to her too....though they were still a little timid...this frustrates me so much!!....i know i have to be patient with them (well it is mostly miss priss, big man just copies everything his sissy does...he is now afraid because she is!) and not be mad....but ugh!....i really think we will be getting a dog soon, they have to get over this fear......i am not saying they have to go around loving on every dog they see....actually i am glad they don't.....but the squealing, screaming & crying is crazy!....i just want them to be acustomed to dogs and realize they are not spawns of the devil and are not here to harm them....and to learn about dogs and how to approach them, when not to approach them and the basic respect you should have with other people's dogs....ok, soapbox over....moving on to more pics of sweet sammy & the birthday girl!

delayed....

well, i have a post planned....actually a couple ~ making up for my slacker blogger skills lately....but guess what?!?! i just know you all are gonna find this hard to believe...haha!....i have used all the available *free* photo space on the blog.....yikes!....so as soon as i purchase some more, i.e. get off the couch, find the credit card, go on-line, etc...i will be back to blogging - with pics! because we all know that pics of the adorable children are much more fun than just my text :)
