thoughts...

i am mad.
people call me a girl.
i need a haircut.
but my mommy refuses to cut my curls.

yes, i will cut his hair.
no, i will not like it.
yes, i probably will cry.

i am so warm and cozy.
i love my fuzzy jj's (pj's to normal people, but then there's us), fuzzy scarf & fuzzy slippers.
i am a princess.

yes, she is a princess.
no, i did not pick out this ensemble.
yes, i do love fuzzies too.

blue bird, blue bird....

what do you see?

i see an artist looking at me....this is audrey's drawing from her first ever art class today....

yes, i am her mother and yes, i am completely and totally biased......but i think this is great! the drawings of a 4 1/2 year old......treasured forever.....the class is until march....much more art to come.....she loves it and we love that she loves it...wow, to already be so passionate about something.....hmmm, this phase could last a while!...well, at least i will have new artwork for the house :)

while talking to my mom today she asked what grant was going to do, jokingly of course.....i quickly told her that grant is just one big extra-curricular activity himself!

~ gymnastics....he is quite the acrobat, climbing on top of the kitchen table at a moments notice...flipping off the couch has also been a fun one...

~avid outdoorsmen....one of his favorite expressions at the moment?!? OUTSIDE, DADA, OUTSIDE....he would stay until he was frozen solid...

~football, baseball, anything ending in ball...his father has already begun perfecting his three-point-stance which he will assume freely when prompted....anything not nailed down at our house gets flung across the room at, what feels like, at least 90 mph....

~ weaponry....need i really go here?!?! we now call any semi-long object in grant's hand a weapon of mass destruction.....WMDs can range from the broom, to his wooden recorder and even his toothbrush from time to time...

a day in the life of a toddler boy.....oh, so so different than our first born....

mothers of boys, mothers of twins, mothers-to-be, mothers in general.....i think we all need a medal!

back to life....

back to reality.....

brett is back to the grind at liberty park middle school ~ workday today, students tomorrow....teachers really must be saints in disguise....bless them

audrey is back to preschool at mitchell's place ~ she was so excited this morning...she absolutely loves school, let 's hope this doesn't change in the next few years!

grant is back at his daycare for one more week and then he starts a new place until we can get him into mitchell's in august ~ brett said he was VERY reluctant to go this morning....as if, he has been spoiled rotten for two weeks with mom, dad, sissy and various other members of the fam....bless him too!

i am at hospital orientation at brookwood medical center ~ i have decided to pick up another flexi/prn position....hopefully between the two of them i will get at least 3-4 days of work in a week.....let's hope!

.....we hope 2009 brings many new adventures for our "little" family...gosh forbid we ever have a dull moment......bible study starts back tonight, a few more basketball games, art lessons for our resident artist begin tomorrow and the daily spoofs of the grant man.....ahhh, love our crazy life :)

least favorite...

so, today i finished up my absolute least favorite part of the holiday season.....i loathe, despise, repulse, can-not-stand, and tee-totally hate having to put away the christmas decorations!!! not only does it involve removing the decorations from the spots they lived for a month, you then have to clean, dust, sweep, etc. the location they were residing....then there is the re-decorating process of everything you moved, hid, relocated, stuffed, crammed during the holiday season...of course, gosh forbid you just re-decorate....oh no, then you realize everything that needs to be organized, straightened up, cleaned out.....truly this ends up being at least a two day process at my house.....UUGGGHHHH!! well i can truly say it is all done, finally, and man does it feel nice to have the house clean, nice and decluttered again......ahhhhhh....

this is 90% of the decor, removed from it's spots, waiting to be boxed up.....it also sat like this for a day, so we had to "picnic" in the living room to compensate for the lack of eating space....the kids thought it was a nice treat....whatever works....

do you think this poor angel was ready to come off the tree?? bless her, she is about to fall off!! the tree was so pitiful by the time we got it out.....needles everywhere but totally worth it, i love a real tree :)

and this spot, pretty plain looking now, once occupied a beautiful tree....see here

well, i am sure you all have been done for days and didn't have nearly the ordeals i did....but oh the life with two small kids.....everything is a fiasco and everything takes at least two days to accomplish... gotta love it!

christmas day, rounds four & five....

“mommy, wake up….santa came, santa came!!”

that was at 6:45am and it was non-stop all day, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! ….roller skates, firetrucks, baby dolls & tricycles galore…..and there was still more in store!

after my christmas monkeys feasted on bananas and monkey bread, it was off to grams’….where everyone was very well fed….our traditional lasagna, antipasto, bread and a special treat - baked stuffed shrimp ~ yummy!

we all ate till our bellies were full then played a little Wii and looked like fools….we sang, danced, batted and putt, then grant commenced to kicking payton’s butt….the girls had a blast and the boys did too, the grown-ups decided gram’s house will certainly do….

it’s hard to believe it is all over…..but the squeals of delight, smiles so wide, ooohs & ahhhs and each “oh my!” made the season just right

as we celebrated this day, we kept one thing in mind…Jesus is THE reason and to our family, that is quite fine….

christmas eve....

the children were snuggled, all tucked in their beds.....

we had a great christmas eve and the kids are worn out....without a doubt!

my family came up and we ate, we played, we had a poinsettia or two, we colored, we watched classic movies, just to name a few....that's enough seuss for you :)

fun was had by all, brett and i read stories to the kids before bed.....me, a funny little diddy called an alabama night before christmas and brett read the traditional 'twas the night before....

also, please know that we are not drugging our son....he has developed either a good case of pinkeye or severe allergy eyes.....regardless, we are on drops.....never a dull moment.....his eyes look so terribly swollen and red.....christmas '08, the year grant's eyes were swollen shut.....

we are looking so forward to tomorrow....

Merry Christmas to All, and to All a Good Night!!

we did it....

5 tickets - $21.00
2 hours & 45 mins waiting in line
28 degree weather
2 worn out & frozen children
3 worn out & frozen adults

but....We RODE the PINK PIG today! ……Priceless, finally!

Priscella was wonderful as always but freakin’ freezing…..unbelievable, we go from 70-75 degree days to 28 degrees in a matter of 36 hours….but, all that said, we DID IT and that’s all that matters at this point….

christmas, round three

sunday night was christmas with mimi & pops and blake & megan….

fun was had by all, to say the least….blake cooked (enough said) the meat, the falcons avoided defeat, candy and gifts - it was all such a treat!!!

i’m a regular dr. seuss these days :) ……enjoy the pics….but like before, there are so many more in store….Christmas Eve and Christmas Day ~ oh we can’t wait!!!!

christmas, round two....

we just got back from christmas at mamaw & papaw richards....we were missing a few people and hope to see them soon with a new baby in tow.....we had mamaw's "famous" tenderloin with all the fixings ~ yum-o.....it was nice to spend time with family that we don't see that often.....more celebrating tonight, more pics later....
