gymnastics....

.....audrey started her third year of gymnastics today.....i really like this place....it is huge & the "real deal"....relax, i haven't enrolled her into a Bela Karolyi camp....yet :)

....though i did learn a little something today.....i really, really need the next size lens for my camera....sorry about the quality of some of these pics.....this gym is huge!

audrey got quite lucky.....she was the only one there for her class!! now, the class 15 mins. later was filled to the brim....as were all of them throughout the afternoon.....but apparently either there were a lot of no-shows for her class or she is flying solo.....audrey really enjoyed all the one-on-one time.....it was like a private lesson for the group price.....sweet!

and seeing as grant's school was closed today due to plumbing issuses *yikes* he was able to enjoy watching her gymnastics too.....doesn 't he look just thrilled??!?!!

Happy Anniversary Babe!! wow!.....8 years ago today i married this cutie.....i guess time flies when your having fun!

nothing weekend....

....it was just a nothing weekend....nothing to do, nothing to complete, no where to be, no commitments.....this are a rare occasion for our household.....we enjoyed it....

saturday we set up shop in the backyard...... relaxing by the *pool*....nice, very nice....oh, let me back up.....first thing that morning i noticed we were out of milk ~ surprise, surprise, surprise ~ so grant & i left the other two sleepy heads in slumberland and took off to publix.....right across the street from our publix is a new found treasure, diamond in the rough, bliss-in-a-box bakery known as magic muffins.....i can't believe it has taken me a year to try this place...un.be.live.able!! sausage & cheese biscuits that are like huge sausage balls, muffins of every variety, biscuits of every variety ~ even strawberry, muffin tops, scones, etc.etc.etc.... yum-o!!!

ok, now where were we?!?!.....ah, yes....the *pool*.....the kids could care less - there is a body of water to splash in! we also layed out the slip-n-slide & a sprinkler.....steamy august fun!

after waterplay & lunch, brett & grant headed off for a little "man-time".....uab was having a scrimmage so they went to stand in the heat & sweat unbelievably....i mean, watch the boys and get feel for this year of blazer football...audrey and i headed back to publix...let's not even discuss how many times i end-up in there during the week....and then to find her some monkey bar buddies....huh? what was that i said!?! yes, now that we are in big school and have recess & p.e. everyday we MUST have little britches to cover our panties when we wear dresses & skirts....and seeing as my priss-pot daughter is not giving up wearing girly stuff anytime soon, we stocked up!

sunday brought about another nice day.....starting with a great service at church....we headed home for a little lunch and yardwork.....it couldn't be all fun and games ~ well, for brett that is :) we took advantage of our new membership to mcwane (thanks again ma!) and let the kids play for a while.....they have a new exhibit, shark/ray touch-tank....pretty cool.....though the little dudes are still a bit skidish and wouldn't get too close for us to touch.....

we headed over to the freshwater fishy friends next.....grant was soooo tickled & kept squealing, he is quite the clown! i must admit though......some of those fish are ugggg..ly!!

a bit more exploring around the center......i tell you what, in 90 degree august heat, this is a great way to spend an afternoon!! the kids loved fixin' up the car....

now the kids are asleep, lunches are packed, clothes layed out and we are about to start another crazy week! first full week of kindergarten, our 8th wedding anniversary, first day of gymnastics, middle-school football scrimmage, mimi & pops and me on-call.....whew!....let the fun of the reality of our lives begin!!!

.....we survived....all of us :) audrey started off the day with a bang ~ falling out of the bed....i just had to laugh.....kindergarten here we come! she was still just as excited this morning as she has been all.summer.long....i feel like we have been talking about & preparing for this day all summer....and it is finally here...

when choosing her outfit yesterday she had one request.....her favorite color ~ yellow.....now, i'm not one to wear yellow or really even pick it for the kids.....but this wasn't about me....audrey wanted yellow and it was her school day....so we found this adorable skirt and she was quite pleased :)

packed up ready to go!! of course, being the ocd *freakishly always on-time* person i am, we were early.....we chilled out in the car, talked about the day & then set off for a few more pics....

we were so excited to see kylie before we went in.....more photo ops & then off they went....quite brave!!

they finally had to let go & depart to the different sides of the hall......it's ok ~ they get to see each other in the afternoons.....kylie's mom has so graciously offered to pick-up audrey on the days i work..... whew, how awesome is that!! the little ladies get to carpool together in the afternoon with another sweetie, emma....lots of fun :)

we are very, very proud of our sweet girl.....she did great this morning!! i know she is going to love school.....she is like my little sponge, soaking up everything she can.....

i love this pic.....daddy giving some last minute instructions!! knowing him it was probably something like...."see that boy over there, keep away." or "quickly, let's review - what's 4 + 2?" i love knowing that if ever needed brett is literally just several feet away in the middle school.....not that there would be a discipline issue ~ that'll be grant!!!

when i picked her up at kylie's house her mom had the most adorable apple cookies for the girls....so sweet!! i know she is going to be in good hands when i'm not there :) and then audrey went to the car & found these in her seat.....and they're her favorite color!! she has been quite loved today and she deserves it.....we are extremely proud of her :)

thought i would throw in a pic of big man.....ya know, it's been awhile since he's been in a post.....plus, just look at that face!!! love it :) by the way.....he is doing great & adjusting wonderfully at his school too!

well here we are.....our first child in school....let good times roll!!
