jam packed, full of fun….that is how i would describe our weekend….after an absolutely crazy day at work and crazy events at the house we decided to just suck it up, deal with the traffic & get out of town Thursday afternoon & head to my moms…..oh, that crazy event at the house?? brett got in a fight with the hedge trimmer ~ the hedge trimmer won! i get a picture text at work of his finger with the comment, “think I need stitches?” seriously, MEN!! needless to say, he probably did but being a stubborn man he bandaged it up and moved on…
friday morning we met up with the mixson’s for a little ice skating at the mall….so fun & such a great idea to beat the heat!! audrey was a bit timid at first to say the least….once we got her out there she had a blast!….i was loving it, i haven’t skated in YEARS but it came back to me fairly quickly…i’m no dorothy hamil but i had a great time…..audrey did wonderful for her first time….she gained confidence quickly & kept her ankles really straight….i think lisa is having isabella’s birthday party there in september….yeah! not sure who is more excited…the little girls or lisa & i! and it is a great workout for your legs too :) of course, while we were at the mall we just had to ride the carousel too!
friday night we headed to the local mexican place for dinner with the fam….i mean, what else do you eat on a Friday night :) ….mexican food is a staple in our house…. after dinner we went to Rockin’ on the Coosa…my hometown, Wetumpka, is celebrating it's 175th birthday & the party got started friday night….they had several bands playing and street dancing….a great night of small town fun…audrey loves music & dancing, she was too cute! It also worked out perfectly when she got her yellow balloon because we always knew where she was when we saw that balloon bobbing up & down :) …lawn chairs, blankets, cold beer, music & dancing…perfect…I was also able to visit with friends I haven’t seen in way too long ….priceless…
4th of July was spent at the mixson’s house all day with all my family….we had an awesome time at the pool….in the typical fashion of my family, there was lots of good food, good beverages & good fun :) we were also quite excited to be able to celebrate my nephew payton’s birthday….that child is TEN-YEARS-OLD!! i can not believe it….i still vividly remember pacing around baptist east un-patiently waiting on him to arrive….and a c-section later he finally did! payton was the first….first grandchild, first nephew/niece, first everything…wow, if we had only known then what a path he was paving :)
sunday brought more fun in the sun, great lunch & heading to birmingham to get back to reality for a little bit…..3 days of work this week, 2 days to pack & then 8 days at the beach…oh yeah!!
enjoy the pics below!
