sunday FUNday

after church sunday was a day full of outdoor fun! we fixed our lunch and outside we went to eat & enjoy the day....

as we were eating, we noticed a few of our pesky *friends* running around the yard....yup, alvin & his brothers!....ugh, chipmunks are such a pain and dig the worst holes everywhere.....sissy came up with an idea ~ we should put out some food & try to catch them....haha, catch a chipmunk! oh well, at least the kids had fun :) first we set out some "bait" to lure them in.....

pork rinds, grapes, kettle korn & raisins....looks good to me!! then the kids got ready to catch 'em...mean faces and all!

 

well, that didn't last long.....the kids gave up waiting for the chipmunks to come back out! brett & i intervened with a few rounds of hide-n-go seek....whew, that's one way to get some exercise!

while brett worked on a few projects around the yard, i decided it was a great day to pull out the paint...

and yes, i got in on the action too! we have several tiles left over from our summer bathroom floor project so i thought i would mess around a little....

after snapping this shot i went around to the back of the house to find miss priss being quite silly...

brother man helped his daddy finish up the last few things on his truck shed.....every boy needs a place to store his tonka toys!!

of course, i just happened to still have all the paints out....a little decor from mom :)

all that hard work & play got us craving a sweet snack....DQ would do!! but even better than that, we got our treats to go and headed down to the river bank to continue enjoying our beautiful day...

the kids loved being able to watch the ol' cahaba river stroll by as we ate.....and then of course we had to go exploring a bit!!

due to the lack of rain, this particular spot was pretty low so we were able to walk all over the rocks and show the kids all kinds of neat stuff....even a few tadpoles!....you take for granted things like this until you are seeing it through your children's eyes...priceless...sissy even found some really smooth & polished river rocks! 

i am trying to get better about blogging throughout the week and not just a *weekend update* but honestly that's the only time we get any family fun time!

ode to busy lives.....we've all got 'em :)
